Declutter Your Life

“If your conscious mind can’t see it, it doesn’t affect you” (Marie Diamond Fung Shui Master)

What is Clutter?

Clutter is anything we don’t need, want or use that takes our time, energy or space and destroys our serenity.

Why do I clutter?

We hold onto old things and old ideas because we lack faith in our ability to obtain new ideas and new things.

Simply learning to organise is just a piece of the puzzle.

We must examine the inner psychological workings that influence our behaviours to create lasting change to remove the chaos.

Question yourself and be honest

Was the house I was raised in a cluttered home with no organisation?
Where did it come from, and why did they clutter?

Are you indecisive and have trouble making final decisions?

Do I suffer guilt over money spent, energy wasted, time wasted?

Getting rid of Clutter can lead to facing deeper emotional issues, which can be very cathartic and liberating.

Essential organisational skills to eliminate, categorise, and organise, are learned and can be applied to all areas of life.

When should I deal with Clutter?

It should become a state of mind that every single piece you put away, store or stash should be subject to the ten decluttering questions below.

How do I declutter?

Understand The Vaccum Law of Prosperity; giving away makes room for the new you want and love.

10 Questions to ask when decluttering

  1. Is this item something I use regularly
  2. If not, is it something I love
  3. Am I keeping this out of obligation
  4. Do I think I should love it – but will you ever
  5. Am I saving this just in case
  6. Do I have multiples of the same thing
  7. Could something else do the same job
  8. Am I holding onto it to fix one day
  9. Is it worth spending time cleaning it
  10. Could I use this space for something else, create the vacuum and fill it with something you love

Decision time

KEEP – SELL – DONATE

Where do I put my Clutter?

Don’t Create piles. Create an allocated space.

Action: Access each item with the ten declutter questions, and if it is a keeper, find a place to store near similar items at the right height appropriate to the number of times you need to retrieve them.

Action: Once you have accessed the ten declutter questions if you have a group of items that need a container, purchase one. But nothing should pass the threshold of your home unless it is required.

Emotional Clutter every mother has that painting, artwork, cards, unique gift or project given by their children. If you are serious about decluttering, you must get rid of some.

Action: Take a photo of the item and save it on a hard drive, you can even make a photo book of my child’s journey of paintings, artwork, unique cards and gifts and then bin it all – ouch, that hurt, but a beautiful book of love will replace it.
